AEW Dynamite Results: Wednesday, April 28, 2021
Brian Cage def. Hangman Adam Page
These two had great chemistry, and the moonsaults in this match were picture perfect.
To the naked eye, Brian Cage beat Hangman Adam Page clean, but the top babyface certainly had an out after getting jumped before the bell and power bombed.
The Young Bucks def. Matt and Mike Sydal
Each week, Excalibur makes it a point to note how long he’s known The Young Bucks, which tells me he will inevitably get the Jim Ross treatment and get beaten up whenever these heels need massive heat.
The Young Bucks figure if Kyle O’Reilly can rip off Orange Cassidy’s fashion choices, they can do the same with Seth Rollins.
The Young Bucks looked like two little Matt Hardy’s.
Matt Jackson’s nonchalant, heel clothesline was so entertaining to watch.
The only thing a match like this seemed to be missing was a ladder.
After a Johnny Cage-like low blow, Don Callis remarked “what a phenomenal athletic maneuver.”
Orange Cassidy def. Penta El Zero M
Between having to say “Trent?” “Wherever,” and “Whatever,” Justin Roberts’ introduction of Orange Cassidy is getting more obnoxious by the week.
Penta El Zero M blocked Orange Cassidy’s hands from going into his pockets multiple times, but Cassidy had no defense for the “Cero Miedo” taunt.
Penta El Zero M intercepted a diving Orange Cassidy and impressively held him in the Gorilla Press position.
This was such a fun television match.
The Inner Circle vs. The Pinnacle—Parley Before Blood and Guts
When Sammy Guevara called out Shawn Spears for failing in WWE, MJF gave this look, almost as if to say “he’s got a point.”
I’m glad the rest of these two teams got some real promo time after Chris Jericho and MJF did most of the heavy lifting throughout.
Wardlow and Jake Hager didn’t say a word, although they were staring at each other for the entire parley.
Eddie Kingston and Jon Moxley Attack Kenny Omega
Tony Schiavone was almost too happy about Michael Nakazawa potentially getting his ankle broken.
Kenny Omega won three belts this past weekend, yet because this show was pre-taped, none of them were featured on television.
Kenny Omega had an entire stable full of goons in The Elite, yet none of them showed up to help Omega.
Kris Statlander def. Penelope Ford
If AEW is going so much money buying the rights to “Where is My Mind?” forOrange Cassidy, then it’s going to get its money’s worth and use it for Kris Statlander as well.
I never realized how much Orange Cassidy looked like Kip Sabian until they faced off tonight.
The Factory def. The Nightmare Family
It was heavily implied that The Factory stole Cody Rhodes’ bus, and Tony Schiavone was having none of it.
Nick Comoroto is such an impressive-looking human.
The second Billy Gunn walked out with his ribs taped, you knew he was going to take a shot to the ribs by Anthony Ogogo.
Anthony Ogogo didn’t even work this match and his finisher got over more than anything else did.
Darby Allin def. 10—AEW TNT Championship
If AEW knows what direction it’s taking with Sting, it’s doing a great job of hiding it.
After 10 cut such a great promo about winning for Brodie Lee, it was weird to see him gleefully capitalize on outside interference.
