Busy Hull road to close for hi-tech cyclist sensors to be installed
Work will start this weekend to install hi-tech safety sensors at three road junctions on a busy route in east Hull.
The first of their kind to be used in the city, the tiny devices will be embedded in road studs being laid near the junctions of Maxwell Street, Woodhall Street and Morley Street where they meet Stoneferry Road.
Using so-called smart technology, the studs will automatically illuminate when a sensor detects a cyclist on the footway.
The lights will signal to motorists that a cyclist is crossing the junction.
The work will also see raised tables being installed at each junction giving priority to pedestrians and cyclists when crossing the side roads.
