Canned cocktails, election bills and Whitmer’s travels: The week in Michigan politics

Amid ongoing scrutiny of Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s March flight to Florida, a photo of her violating state health department pandemic orders at an East Lansing dive bar brought criticisms against her administration’s COVID-19 orders to a fever pitch.

On Sunday, a photo of the governor pictured with 13 friends at Landshark Bar & Grill in East Lansing began circulating widely after publication in Breitbart. This came days before a scheduled change to MDHHS orders on social gatherings, which previously said no more than six people can gather together at indoor restaurants, and groups of customers must be six feet apart.
