Curb drains work adds cost to township’s Kensington/Ridgetop project

TWINSBURG TWP. – Phase 2 of the Kensington/Ridgetop street improvements project will cost $18,217 more than the contract that originally was awarded, but it still will be considerably less than the engineer’s estimated cost.

Township trustees approved a change order July 14 that would increase the contract awarded to C.A. Agresta Construction Co. to $425,981. Township administrator Rob Kagler said the extra cost is necessary to lower curb drains.

The original low bid of $407,764 was 40 percent less than the engineer’s $670,039 estimate. The township received an Ohio Public Works Commission grant of $220,208 for the project.

The township received six bids for the work on Darien Lane from the roundabout to the township border, all of St. Mikala Court and Ridgetop Drive from Park Ridge north to the cul-de-sac. The project got underway a few weeks ago.
