Feds charge Cumberland County businessman with running $467K scam against COVID-19 relief program
Federal investigators have charged a Cumberland County businessman with running a $467,200 fraud against the U.S. government’s Paycheck Protection Program that aided small businesses amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Keith McConnell, 43, owner of KB Transportation LLC, filed false application forms to secure the money even though KB wasn’t in business and had no employees or payroll in 2019 and 2020, Acting U.S. Attorney Bruce Brandler said Friday.
Brandler said the Carlisle man lied on application forms and claimed to have 26 employees. He said McConnell used the paycheck protection funds to buy a house and two vehicles and stocks.
