Firecracker Classic Benefits Local Economy

QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) — More than 500 swimmers and their families traveled to Quincy this weekend for the 27th annual Titan Firecracker Classic.

Restaurants, hotels, and small businesses owners said they are cashing in from all of the tourism.

Jenni Baldin traveled from Springfield, Illinois to watch her son compete in the Titan Firecracker Classic.

“We’re going to head back and use the pool at The Atrium and grab a snack, they have a restaurant there and have dinner their later and hopefully meet up with some of our friends,” Baldin said.

Scotties Fun Spot owner Jeff Scott said events like this drive in tourism to restaurants, hotels, and small businesses which gives them a boost.
