Hermes scam warning as fake text makes the rounds
A warning has been issued by delivery service Hermes as another ‘phishing’ text scam makes the rounds.
Phishing is where cybercriminals ‘fish’ for personal data by sending you emails (or social media messages, SMS texts etc) which look like they’re from a legitimate sender or business.
These cybercriminals will attempt to steal your personal data by sending you emails which look like they’re from a legitimate sender, asking you to download files or software and asking you for personal details such as usernames and passwords.
In a text received by a Gloucestershire Live reporter in Cheltenham on Thursday (May 20), someone claiming to be from Hermes sent a text saying the receiver had missed a parcel and needed to pay a small fee to get the parcel redelivered.
