The past few weeks of data suggest the market is beginning to slow down, at least relative to the early pandemic frenzy, said Hancen Sale, governmental affairs and policy director at the Knoxville Area Association of Realtors.
“By historical standards, the market remains highly competitive, and it is likely to stay that way,” he said. “However, the inventory boost and slightly tempered buyer demand — likely due to rising prices — will cool down price growth to a more sustainable level.”
He estimated that at the current rate, sales are unlikely to exceed 2020 home sales, but still will be well above numbers from 2015-19.
