Naira slide against the dollar no longer acceptable, says PGF DG
THE Director General of the Progressives Governors Forum, Dr. Salihu Lukman, has urged the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, to expedite action on saving the Naira because its slide against the United States’ dollar was no longer acceptable.
He also expressed sadness that the laid-back attitude of some appointees of the Federal Government was giving opposition figures the ammunition to cast the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), and the All Progressives Congress regime in bad light.
Lukman alleged that the laid-back attitude of these appointees has robbed the regime of much needed credit for gains made in the area of nation building.
He said this in a paper titled, ‘Nigeria’s Debt and Struggle for New Nigeria’, in Abuja, on Wednesday.
