RIDOT Warns Residents Of Text Message Phishing Scam
PROVIDENCE, RI — The Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) is warning residents of a text message phishing scam fraudulently asks victims to click on a link to validate information for a license waiver.
According to RIDOT, this is not legitimate and anyone who receives this message via text message or email should delete it immediately without clicking on any links or providing personal information.
RIDOT is asking all residents to be cautious when providing personal information online and has released the following list of measures that can be taken to avoid scams:
- Never share sensitive information, such as your social security number or banking information, via text messages, email or social media.
- If you receive an email that seems to originate from RIDOT, ensure it is from a dot.ri.gov email address before responding or clicking any links.
