Scam warning for Victorians as lockdown financial help is rolled out
Aussies are being urged not to follow the prompts despite the text message looking like it is coming from an official government source.
The government has urged Victorians to be on the lookout for a scam following the announcement of a new round of coronavirus business grants.
Business owners already hit hard by Victoria’s sixth lockdown have been dealt another blow after being targeted in a series of scam texts.
Last week, the government announced round four of the Business Costs Assistance Program, which sees 175,000 eligible Victorian businesses receive weekly payments of either $2800, $5600 or $8400 depending on their annual payroll.
Scammers quickly jumped on the bandwagon.
“We are updating Info for BUSINESS COSTS ASSISTANCE PROGRAM GRANTS (Round 4) kindly use the link provided below to complete necessary Info required as displayed on your mygov dashboard to avoid payment delay: mygov-au.com,” the text sent to many…
