The Food Bank of Northeast Louisiana is getting help to feed more people.
Darden Restaurants, the parent company of eateries such as Olive Garden and LongHorn Steakhouse, is combatting food insecurity by donating refrigerated trucks to support mobile food pantry programs and distribution in communities for Feeding America and its member food banks.
The Food Bank of Northeast Louisiana is among those who will benefit from the contribution.
Through a $2 million grant from Darden Restaurants Inc. Foundation and support from Penske Truck Leasing and Lineage Logistics, the Food Bank of NELA is receiving a 26-foot truck that can transport up to 12,000 pounds of food.
