U.S. Treasury Proposes Global Corporate Minimum Tax Rate of 15%
On Thursday, the US Treasury proposed a minimum global corporate tax rate of 15%.
The Treasury announced the proposal in a statement.
The plan was part of a two-day discussion with the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and G20 officials.
“As part of these meetings, discussions on the world’s minimum corporate tax rates have begun in earnest,” the US Treasury said in a statement.
In the discussion, “The Ministry of Finance needs to stabilize the international tax system, make the world’s competition fair, and cooperate with each other to maintain the tax base and create an environment to secure the world tax system. It is fair and well-equipped to meet the needs of the world economy in the 21st century. ”
